The unique Reddy Grommet has been used widely for several years. It offers the advantage of a unique grasping feature, which enables the tube to be presented to the incision in the correct orientation. This small tube reduces the risk of tympanosclerosis, while its design assures medium-term ventilation, say, thirteen to fifteen months, especially if the inner flange is pointed towards the head of the malleus.
